I have a BF 2.76 pulley and 1 BF 100mm idler. I am currently running a Gates K080740 74" belt.

I just installed a 2.93, 100mm idler and a gates 74" belt on a different 03 and it fit nice and tight, tighter then my setup.

I was wondering if i can go to a 73.5 with my 2.76? Has anyone done it? Does gates even make a 73.5" belt?

Dave

Just searched Gates site. They have a K080733 and a K080738 belt. Just not sure what exact length they are

I don't know about gates, but every car I have every done a 2.76 pulley swap on with 1 idler wouldn't work with anything except a 74.5 gatorback.

hmm, i know gatorback makes a 73.5 inch belt but i dont know if you can use an idler with that size belt. it will be pretty tight

My gates is a 74. I do know that Gates and Gatorbacks differ length wise. I do not want to run a Gatorback though. I may just go out and buy it and try it, if it doesnt fit ill return it.

I have the gatorback 73.5" with 2.8 and no idler and it was one hell of a time getting that thing on. I had to put the belt on the pullies with the ribs and slid the back of the belt on one of the other idlers that are smooth...

I dont think that it could be done... the difference between the 2.8 and 2.75 with idler could be a lot... good luck.

Im probably going to try it this week. Ihave the 74" Gates belt on and it goes on and off very easy. I found a 74" gatorback @ my shop last night and that slipped on very easy as well, not as tight as i want it. havent driven it with the Gatorback because it started raining.

Did some research the gates K080733 is a 73.5" belt. Then there is a K080738 so im guessing that is like a 73 5/8 belt. i think im going to try that one

dont use a 73.5" Gator with a 2.7 and one 100mm Idler. It will be too tight and slow you down. I have track tested this. I lost 2-3 mph at the track on the same day using a 73.5" Gatorback vs a 74.5 Gatorback.

Get a 74 or 74.5" gates or gatorback.

Before the 4lb lower I ran the Gates 74" belt with one 100mm idler and the 2.8 upper with zero problems.

Remember though, a gates 080740 is actually 74 and 5/8 inches.
