View Full Version : Online Dyno and 1/4 et. runs.
I have been using the RPM's online Dyno to get pre-race 1/4 ML. runs,
and so far it seem very good, however I like to know if anyone have a
better web-site with est. Vehicle Weight and other options to use for a better
1/4 et. Results, I know there is nothing like the real deal but it does help.
http://www.aspracing.com/dyno.htm
e.g..
Vehicle Weight+You+Gas.: 4,200 lb
1/4 Ml. Trap Speed.....: 125MPH
est. RW Horsepower.....: 640 RWHP
Vehicle Weight+You+Gas.: 3,800 lb
Rear Wheel Horsepower..: 512 RWHP
Estimated E.T (sec.)...: 11.3
Vehicle Weight+You+Gas.: 3,800 lb
Rear Wheel Horsepower..: 450 RWHP
Estimated E.T (sec.)...: 11.8
Vehicle Weight+You+Gas.: 3,800 lb
Rear Wheel Horsepower..: 350 RWHP
Estimated E.T (sec.)...: 12.9
so if you are making 450+ RWHP, you can run 11's :rockongoo
and if you do not then go to MM for help :)

I wouldnt go by that thing at all....it said I have 468rwhp for me to run my 107mph....On a dyno I made 375rwhp its only somewhat accurate if you use my torque rating which I made 460...

For me
I got 10.64 at 128.06
Thats with 500rwhp. It doesnt factor tq?

yes, you are right..
that is why I needed to fine another .. but it still seems ok..

With all of these calculators, you can add about 5mph if you have a poweradder.

It's been explained to me, but I still am puzzled myself, but all these calculators use HP and Weight of the vehicle. I got 11.80 @ 120 :rockongoo

Those numbers are for a drag race setup, your setup would not even be close.

Pete, I dont understand how it doesnt figure into ET at all...Especcially when you look at my truck...without the torque i make..I go NOWHERE. lol

What about the skills of the driver? And the transmission used? 4, 5speed 6speed?
Keep in mine that the Vehicle Weight + gas + you are actual numbers, and your RWHP
Is also actual, so why can’t I (anyone) get that number. :)

I know, but that's the deal, I would think that TQ would help a heavy car or super heavy truck like yours to get down the track.

Josh I wouldnt rely on these calculators. Lots of other factors come into play LIKE TQ, aerodynamics, what kind of tires.
Its just a good tool for a estimation.

That number is an ideal run with a drag race setup, probably a prepped automatic with ideal matched rearend gears.

oh I dont....I just am actually curious about this now. I never heard that torque doesnt figure into ET...I'd like to hear the explanation of why in detail if anyone can give it.

It's just a guidline for a well matched setup and good driving, TQ really does not figure in.

After reading this, I now thing TQ. is needed, :eusa_thin
because to move Weight over distant needs TQ.. :shruggood
what if there was No Tq.
Does this mean you cannot start the moving motion before needing HP?

every calc i just did said i should run a 14.2-14.0...i'm ruuning a 13.9 so i guess i'm doing ok but thats kind of depressing, i have been hoping to break into the mid 13.5's. My car weights 3,510 so maybe i'll try dropping some weight for next time to the track. I'm thinking about going sunday again maybe i'll take out my back seat, spare, jack, and back carboard carpet thing.

Which probably means you are making more power than you dynoed or the car weighs less than you put in the calc.

If he can get his info. somewhat to match, why can't I
550+ RWHP run 10's
450+ RWHP run 11's
I guest he is just a better driver.. :bowdowngo

one thing i dont get about those calcs is how do they judge your 60'. do they do it on like an average or what? I know my car does 13.9 with a 2.0 60 but what if i lowered it then that would even mess up the thing more or if i ran a higher 60 then i would be right on there mark
Which probably means you are making more power than you dynoed or the car weighs less than you put in the calc.

This is from: aspracing.com
"Note that the elapse time is the approximate time your vehicle should be running.
Although many factors influence elapse time the main factor is traction. Usually if your vehicle does not have enough traction your elpase time will be higher than the estimated.
The other extreme is also possible and usually occurs when you are using racing slick tires.
The horsepower calculation is correct by the definition of horsepower. Horsepower is a measure of the force required to accelerate a weight to a known speed in a know distance. So the generate horsepower by this calculator is the actual horsepower at the rear wheels."
